Keeping gimps in the Dept in over paid jobs  Just filled out an 8 page form, 99% of which info they already have, just can't be bothered searching a database as they're scratching their arse or surfing the net.

I'm sure I'm not the only person this really annoys.

Keeps them in work I imagine. With a lot of applications being made online and no grant schemes on the go, all those clerical workers need something to be doing and I'm sure this census that we returned will keep them busy till christmas.

farmers often complain how brussells is behind all the paper work involved in modern faming , i for one believe if we left the EU in the morning , thier would still be the same amount of paper work , theese civil servants have to be kept in jobs , letting them go would result in less votes for the goverment , everything that happens in the public sector is political , everything

Same here, I'm on multiple reminders at this stage.:D
When I do get round to it I will make the livestock and farm details correspond with what they already have on their database.
For everything else, ZERO ..... dont have any of what ever they are asking about. They know too much about me already:D:D

They don't want any livestock details. They have it already. They just want other details about people working on the farm and off farm jobs etc. etc.

This year, in fairness, they are not duplicating any work.
They are not asking for stuff, they already have.

I dont know why, but I hate filling out that form.......:D

I agree. Lots of stuff comes from Brussels, but I think Dublin has to take the larger proportion of the blame when it comes to nonsense paperwork.

Oh yes they do. For me, how many sheep, how many breeding ewes under two years, how many over, how many "others". Plenty other livestock tick boxes as well, can't tell you what they are now as the envelope is sealed.

Anddddddd I'll be sent out another one to be completed some time in December. FFS.

Particularly liked the question "How long did it take you to complete this form?". WTF!? Do they have a set quota of how much time of mine they need to waste per week or something?

...Thats because its a pointless exercise, and you know that your not getting a penny for doing it!!

we should all write a note on the bottom of the form telling them to get lost that we have better things to be doing with our time

If only it was printed on nice soft paper ................ could leave it in the bathroom:D

just got another reminder in the post today:D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,087 ✭✭✭vanderbadger

if someone comes to the door telling me i will get in trouble for not filling it then i might make an effort, otherwise they can keep sending out reminders away

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,258 ✭✭✭Tora Bora

They don't really want us to fill it up. They can be busy doing nothing sending toothless reminders out for ever and ever. If they were even remotely serious about getting the info back, all they have to do is threaten to penalise the SFP, .............. then we would find the time to fill it out

they dont actually ask about cattle on it.... at the end it says how long did it take to fill it in i put 3 weeks.... just filled it in now , imagine how much all these reminders are costing the taxpayer

if you have sheep that may not be true, could cost you over €6000 over the next few years

another form that I noticed lately is the one that you have to fill out when taking cattle to the factory. It seems pretty pointless its just a declaration stating when cattle were loaded and that they are clean etc, etc. Id say these forms are just dumped or recycled just more pointless red tape:mad:

You should write back to to the Dept. and ask them to define clean, are you supposed to give Daisy a sponge bath and wax polish before you send her to factory.

I remember filling out forms with sheep tags numbers with my dad.
    Took aaaaaages

And then we post that in and someone in the department will have to type all that into a database.
I've no doubt they have a few supervisors who will check it all again.

Why don't they have something like ROS (Revenue on line), it's fantastic!

Leaving aside a lot of rural Ireland doesn't have broadband, if the department went online, I'd fill out the tag numbers on excel or something.
Keep the list updated and then send it through the site.

Now many people cannot do this so we'll use pen and paper. But they're not even offering an alternative, I'll save them time, win win :)

Like everyone I'm certain they create work just to keep themselves in jobs.
Some amount of waste in the department.
