    Hi,
I bought a Sony Vaio (VGN-NS30E) last august and in the past few days it has been heating up a lot, some time the touch pad got too hot to touch. I was watching a film on it, by connecting it to my TV. I had the lid down. When I was finished watching the film it was really hot and the plastic over the screen has warped out of shape and is loose. Now the even bigger problem the screen is no longer working, the light isn't coming on but if you look really close with a light shining on the screen you can still kinda see everything. It is no longer heating up so much. I had called Sony the other day about problems as I was getting a blue screen and it was shutting down, they are supposed to be collecting it on Tuesday to repair it. After all of these new problems I no longer want it repaired I want a replacement. How should I go about getting one. I bought it in power city on Fonthill Road and I know how difficult they can be to deal with, they just try to fob everyone off the the manufacturer. Thanks.

You're entitled to a repair or replacement, however it is at the stores discretion as to which they give you.

In circumstances where something has been giving a lot of trouble and has needed several repair jobs, normally it is reasonable to expect a brand new replacement.

However it sounds like this is the very first time you have contacted them... Its not good enough saying it has had 'all these problems' since you bought it, if you havent contacted them for warranty support previously. So they might give you a new machine, or they might repair it...whichever is cheaper or handier for them usually.

For what it's worth, it sounds like the display inverter is gone.

I would think that it would be cheaper for them to replace it rather than fit a new screen and find out and repair what ever is causing it to over heat and shut down. What is a display inverter? Thanks
