From something someone said in my School Thread, I specifically remember Pogs being more then simply a footnote, and was wondering if anyone wanted to share memories of this game...if you could call it a Sport, I suppose you could....anyway, what was the oddest things you ever had on Pogs and where did you amass your collection from?

Most of my pogs came from promotional packets of crisps and generally just buying them from Waddingtons, although I did have an Aluminium Slammer...or I was told it was an Aluminium Slammer that I remember fondly

And I certainly remember the Simpson ones...

Pogs were awesome. I remember playing them in the yard in primary school. But I never played for "keeps" as I didn't want to lose mine :D

I actually still have them in a tube upstairs somewhere... Good memories.

I remember a friend had a metal slammer with spikes on the edge. It used to wreck the regular pogs!

Man, it was so huge back then. I remember they had them on the Late Late toy show and all.

I remember kids in school getting the bejesus kicked outta them for their pogs, and evry single kid in school would be hunched over on all fours playing pogs in the yard at breaktime. does anyone have any idea how long this fad actually lasted, cos in my mind it seems like years but that was through the eyes of a child probably fifteen years ago.

I loved loved loved pogs. Man I used to wreck my ma's head looking for more and more pogs.

I too had a metal slammer that had spiked edges - it's wasn't great thought. I rememer I had a black plastic one with gold markings on it - man I was unbeatable with that bad boy.

Our school principal went ape **** about them. Too many thefts, fights and kids coming in with 300 pogs only to leave 7 hours later teary eyed and empty handed cos some smug **** wiped him out during lunch!

Remember when you would flip over all 10 or 15 pogs on your first slam? Many a life lesson learned from that game!

Yeah that's the image I had :D Groups of kids huddled together playing.

Yeah I can't remember how long it lasted. I'm the opposite to you, in retrospect I don't think it was long at all. Maybe a year or so?

I loved pogs when I was a kid. I was one of the first to get them going in my school. I think I saw them first when visiting cousins somewhere.

But to make all you guys happy. They are still played over here in Korea. My kids come into school everyday with them. Some of them challenged me to a game (if they won they got stickers, if I won I got the pog).

The kids used a plastic slammer but I was only allowed to use a pog as a slammer (little bastárd) but we were only playing 2 pogs a go in each game anyway. I ended up winning about 15-20 pogs in one 5 minute spell. I never gave the pogs back to the kids that lost them......they can thank me for that life lesson when they're older ;)

I still dunno what the f*ck they are - they look like roundy acid tabs to me.

Still got all mine somewhere at home. They were class.

My oul lad worked with metal for a living so I got my own custom made slammers. They were unbeatable so eventually people would only play me with plastic slammers

The following "documentary" on them may help establish some facts
