Telemarketing + payment

I have an interview with a telemarketing company (Though they don't say this directly, they claim to do 'below the line' marketing, whatever that means) They say they will pay on commission.

How does this work? I've never worked with a telemarketing company but times are pretty desperate and I need the cash. Could I expect to be earning 400 + per week? I'd be more than happy with that. I'd worry that I'd end up with 150-200 per week though and would have been better off getting a job in a supermarket or something.

Share your experiences, if any, and offer me tips for the interview please!

    Telemarketing?

    You're probably talking between €315 and €350 for a 37.5 hour week.

€400 would be at the higher end of the scale, and only if you hit stringent targets.

With regards to a company who claim to do " 'below the line' marketing" .. how do you expect they will treat their staff?

I don't know how they will treat their staff. I'm growing more and more skeptical about this with every passing day, considering that it will be commission only. Who knows though.

If it's commission only then just forget about it.

Really, why? Is it going to be that bad?

I do underscore how desperate I am at present. I am desperate to get a job at this stage.

commission only? They are still required to pay you minimum wage. In which case, expect just over €300.

It sounds like a crap job to be honest.

What is the name of the company. I'm sure someone here has experience with them.

They are called ACT marketing direct. I'm not sure its a good idea broadcasting the name but what the hell.

I'm willing to give it a go at any rate. I'm just depressed at the tought that it might simply be an organised scam.

The phone number on the above's website is also the same for XR Marketing.

These companies regularly operate under different names. You'll be selling door to door selling ****e and unless you're a fantastic salesman you'll earn sweet F.A.

    Seriously, it's not worth it.

Here's a link to another thread relating to Protea Direct, more than likely the same company.

I don't think this job is for door to door. At least they made no mention of it. I don't have a car or full driving license for one thing.

This is so depressing. I need a job. Any job.

You don't need a license, they're not gonna give you a car! You'd have to bus it.

They purposely don't give out information because they'll know no one will go to the interview.

Thanks very much for the heads up mate. Reading through that thread I now fully realise what a scam this is. I'm going to ring on monday morning, put it to them directly whether it is door to door and ask whether they pay a basic minimum wage.

  • Yep it's another door to door scam. I don't know how they get around it but they don't pay minimum wage. You're basically self employed, I think. I know someone who did it for a week and made nothing, and you have to get the bus out to some estate miles away and spend all day knocking on doors. I think you'd be better off getting a job just about anywhere else.
