Wi-Fi Tethering

Upon research, I have found an application called MiWi that enables you to share you're iPhones 3G connection with multiple devices via Wi-Fi if you have a jailbroken device.

I have two questions regarding this app:

    (1) Is there any free alternatives (this costs 10$ via Rock)

    (2) Does it use the normal 3G data that would be used when browsing the net on the iPhone, or does it rely on the one that is not included in the plan (tethering 3G)?

    cheers,

    Kev.

Interesting is there any apps like this that work without jailbreaking?

None that I know of. Apple have been pretty strict on not allowing tethering on the iPad, so it doesn't eat into its laptop sales

I can't see what difference tethering would make to Apple laptop sales, but I do see a huge worry for the networks if people actually started using all their data allowance - therefore all the tethering carryon is down to the mobile operators.

It's free on cydia if you get the 'cracked
version' using certain repos, dunno if I'm allowed name the repo here

Otherwise there is only a free trial and then $9.99

Does it come out of your normal data allowance, or do you have a tethering addon?
