I assume you mean cutting real weight and not just water-weight. If you're on a calorie deficient diet then you've got to add up all the calories you consume, whether they're from food or sports drinks. So to answer your question, it's going to depend on how many calories you've consumed from other sources.

don't drink it at full strenght anyway except for after training, i know alot of teams who were told this and if they ever were to drink them to dilute them 50% with water. as doug said its all extra calories so would hold off myself

If you need good hydration minus the carb,s, Dont bother with over priced isotonic drinks. Try nuun tablets. I use them for short cycling spins and hangovers. 6 calories a tablet for half litre of nice tasting drink. Lemon and lime and cola are nicest. works out 65cents per 500ml. 12 tab in tube. CRC sell them or css, both cycle shops.

Any workout over 1 hour you need carbs. Eating your muscle,s away.

Was at a sports nutrition seminar recently that they were putting on at work and the dietitian said that you need about 6% carb to get your body to take it the fluids so diluting it would make it not as effective and you'd probably be better off just drinking water.

I have found drinking water not good as I am always thirsty no mater how much I drink.

She also suggested a cheaper alternative. Cordial, water and a pinch of salt.

She also went on about urine color as being a guide to how hydrated you are :D.

Thanks for the feedback. I was leaning towards not using them myself, I was just curious about people's thoughts
