Just wondering if you can recommend a program to reduce the resolution of numerous pictures at once. I want to put pictures on a disk for someone and I need them at a reduced quality.

    Know of a free program?

    Thanks in advance.

you can use the image processor in photoshop to do this in a batch process...

Irfanview has a batch processing option. And it's free.

irfanview - free for personal use.

it has a nifty batch conversion facility (under the file menu iirc)

The ever-popular Lightroom.. although it's far from free. :/
I think Irfanview (sic) mentioned above might be a clone-ish thing. (although I've never used it myself.)

If they are .JPG format then open them as thumbnails and select all then right click and you can resize within Windows itself.

This actually resizes, and then saves-over the original file.. destroying it in the process. I don't think this is likely what this person wants.

However.. on a Mac.. you should, by default, have iPhoto available, which should be able to import these, and then export them at whatever size you like. (Personally, I *LOATHE* iPhoto.. bit it will do the job you want at no additional cost.. and if you're used to Apple's tools, you'll probably have very little problem doing the work with it.)

No it doesn't destroy the original, the original is not changed in any way at all. But he wants the app for a Mac.

Picasa does this very easily and it's free too. Click on the first picture you want and then hold down the shift key and click the last one (all others in between will also be selected), then go to FILE and then EXPORT PICTURE TO FOLDER. You can then choose the resolution you want. Mac and PC versions available from www.picasa.com

I have used fotosizer from www.fotosizer.com and find it to be pretty good as you can change the size and quality. I have used to batch process 100+ images and output them to a different folder.
