North Korea threatens nuclear 'sacred war' - Who will give in first!

    From this mornings Times:
North Korea today threatened the United States and South Korea with a nuclear ‘sacred war’ if the two countries go ahead with plans to carry out large scale naval exercises this weekend.

On the last day of an ASEAN summit in Hanoi held in an atmosphere of increasing tension, Pyongyang accused the US of attempting to provoke North Korea and said it would use its nuclear deterrent in retaliation for the exercises.

Nutty North Korea rattling the sabres again in another game of "chicken".
Sooner of later one of the wacko's across the border will finally just go too far - and then heaven help the world!

The Americans need to be careful here. They're already fighting on two fronts, and fighting on more than one front is a bad idea.

There must be some religion involved if it's called a "Sacred War", but until they own up to what religion it is, I think we can safely describe them as cnuts.

Only a cnut would disagree with this.

I hope that this is one of those knee jerk reactions that people get when the US is mentioned. Because no-one could be as much of a f*cktard to think that North Korea will ever be the "good guys" or that NK having nuclear weapons is a good thing.

No but what they do have is a LOT of rare minerals that the world is starved for - especially the kind used in the electronics business I'm told.

This will all kick off soon enough. The great leader is on his way out and he is crazy enough to go to war. Does'nt North Korea have something like 4 million soldiers?

Wiki says 1.2 million armed soldiers. And it doesn't seem to matter if he dies or not as they still celebrate the birthday of kim jong ills (spelling) father as if he were alive. Also his son seems to be just as much of a fruitcake as he is.

That's strange. I read the article as North Korea threatens war. Just like they did two and a half months ago. And a few months before that. And a little while before that too.

    Joke of a country.

It appears to be based on the teachings of Kim Jong-il.

Basically a way of living which has been turned into something of a religion by the dude who will always be pictured as a puppet on strings in my head.

    Not neccessarily.
North Korea's nuclear tests have weakened relations with China.
Then there was the incident where they fired rome rockets towards China, and then detonated them just before they reached the border.

I'd threaten war too if Russia was doing military exercises 20 miles from Miami.Open your eyes man.

Joke of a leadership to be more accurate but then who are we to cast the first stone ...or the States or a lot of countries to be honest.

End of the day, there is no good guys here - just a lot of nutters wanting to play "I'm the big boy on the block"
The worst thing is that these two sides have some terrible weapons that will effect us all not just themselves.

Frankly, if these were just two street local bullies, I'd be very tempted to slap both around their ears repeatedly till they saw sense and make to kop on.
Sadly, we, the rest of the world don't have the better hands (or arms!) to do it.
So brinkmanship rears its stupid head again... Sooner or later one side will just go that bit too far...

I hope they send that bitch Kay Burley there on a fact-finding mission, preferably with a target painted on her head.

I'd watch the channel if that happened.

isn't it hilarious that nobody ever comes out to defend north korea? i can't help but correlate this with the fact that there's no mention of a holy book when you read more about the country.

A little off topic... but the other day I saw countdown for the very first time in years. That Rachel Riley is fúcking smoking hot. Like, I'd seen pictures and already knew she was hot, but when I saw her actually on the show, it was like I was hypnotized by her sheer hotness.

    Anyone agree, disagree?

By the looks of things, they are well able (at least according to them) to be able to look after themselves - and that goes for the states too whom by the way, I'm not defending their actions either.

Like I said above, there is no good guys here, just over self-inflated ego's to begin with I suspect!

On the DPRK army wiki page it's down as 1.9 million active personel with 9.7 million reserve.

While I think this number is inflated, I'd say the actual reserve is still around the 4.5 million mark.

I honestly don't think anything is going to kick off, China doesn't want US military personel stationed on it's doorstep (their tacit support of the DPRK whenever it gets itself into trouble is based almost completely on this) and Seoul is only around 35 miles from the border. China/DPRK versus USA/RoK wouldn't benefit anyone in any way, shape or form.

I think that 90% of the North Korean population would rather get nuked than than put up with the **** knobs and cnuts running the country. It would sort their food shortage problem out in a flash, or several flashes.

They make the Somali pirates, or even the Taliban, look like Oxfam volunteers.

The North Korean leadership just wants to its greasy hands on what their southern neighbours have built up over the past 60 years. Of course, they could be on the scrounge for a hand-out again, and are trying the old blackmail trick.

The Chinese ALWAYS have their conveniently timed doubts when its comes to North Korea and their close complicated relationship with them.

    N. Korea may one well one day kick some stuff off but it's funny because their main source of confidence comes from their alliance with China. N. Korea needs China but China will not roll over and die without N. Korea. A posturing North Korea reminds me somewhat of a scene from the Simpsons episode "Lemon of Troy" :

America: Hey, nobody hassles my little Korea.
    N. Korea: Hey! And no one manhandles the bosom chum of China. Spring forth, burly protector, and save me! *China steps out from behind a tree*
China : Aw, jeez. I never hang out with him, normally. *throws America off Korea*
Korea: [skipping around China and singing] Hark to the tale of China, 'N' the Korea she loved so dear. They remained the best of friends for years and years and years.
