    Hi folks,

I've been away for a couple of days and heard some vague rumblings of McDowell rejoining FG? But I've not really been able to find anything on it so am thinking it's a stirring story more than anything. Can anyone shed some light on it please?

    ATB,

    John

With that deafening silence I'm thinking it was a stirring story!

All i heard was something on the radio about a comment along the lines of "watch out Mcdowell is coming" from some one in FG. I was nt paying too much attention.

Ive already been put off FG enough not to vote for them even before this guy joins so it will make little difference.

Why would Fine Gael want to get involved with someone who:

    - has such a poor electoral record in South Dublin
    - was in government for years with Bertie and FF

Ooooh that might be very interesting. Isn't that Lucinda Creighton's constituency? She's not going to be very happy with a heavy weight like Michael McDowell as a running mate, stealing her votes. Although I can imagine that some in senior positions in FG might relish the opportunity of causing her some discomfort. Would it be too cynical to suggest that, whereas winning two seats would obviously be the best possible outcome for the leadership, replacing Creighton would also be a welcome result? Although I can't see McDowell keeping his head down and towing the party line.

he had some good ideas, the street cafes plus zero tolerence, he stands a better chance of getting his ideas put into practice with f.g.

Well in 2007, he only lost out to Gormley by .6%. Given the fact that Gormley's stock has diminished since, there's a good chance that McDowell could pip him this time around. Also, people have short memories and it's unlikely that he'll be associated with the economic turmoil since that election. Unlike Gormley. If FG manage the vote efficently, I think they could well achieve two seats here.

From what I know FG are planning to run Cllr Eoghan Murphy in Dublin SE, no idea where Looselips Creighton and McDowell will fit in then. They can hardly throw Creighton, a sitting TD out.

Read Miriam Lords article from Thursday (I think), if you want the current rumours.
