I read somewhere, that child seats are OK to stay in the car for NCT, but then they'll be tested and may fail.

How could they fail? Because of wrong mounting? Or something else?

I'm having my NCT next week and want to leave my child seat in the car.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Take your car seats out. Make sure all your seatbelts are visible and working. They will all be tested during the NCT.

Hardly a big deal to take it out anyways.

I know it's not a problem to take it out.
But they say, if I leave it, they will check it for safety - and that's what I want.
I want to make sure that my child is safe in the seat.

My only concern is that they might find some stupid thing they will fail for, which has nothing to do with safety.

I'd imagine even if that did happen you could remove the seat and pass on a visual retest?

This is one of those rules on the nct that is a complete joke, NCT testers are mechanics and alot of them wouldnt have a clue how to fit a child seat in a car as alot of child seats are differant. Iv seen a few people fail on this when they clearly shouldnt have it was just a tester who was unformiliar with the seats. Like Anan1 said if it fails take it out for the visual or better still like was also said take it out altogether.

If you really want to make sure your seat is fitted right bring your car to a good baby shop where they seel them(smiths have very well trained staff in there baby sections) and ask will they check it for you, im sure they will do this FOC and you will have your piece of mind then, i wouldnt rely on the opinion of a mechanic who might be unsure himself
