    That's great news.

I didn't realize you did dance music.

    That's great news.

I didn't realize you did dance music.

Its not something I do very often. This is remixing an already existing pop song, so its in a niche of its own. Its probably something the purists would send me to hell for, but anyway.

I did it on spec for a friend of mine in the UK who does do Dance music and produced the original pop track, he sent me the vocals and away I went. Trust me, I was as surprised as anyone when the record company and he liked it and used it.

The funny thing is I really have to thank Neuro and jtsuited for giving me great tips (unknowingly) which I picked up on the Dance forum :D!! I did it last year when there was a thread about us non dance guys doing some dance music so I did a bit of research into arrangements/sounds etc for this kind of thing and gave it a shot.

Anyway it was done a year ago and I had forgotten about it assuming it had tanked or been shelved, so much to my surprise I get an email telling me about it, funny old world.

That's brilliant, fair play for stepping out of the box as they say. Most people just stick with what they know.

Could send your career in a whole new direction.

You'll have to come up with a DJ name now:D

You've made the Top Ten. You're officially a popstar.

It means you have to start dressing and wearing makeup like Boy George in the 80s...or Limahl... or Peter Gabriel. Sorry, if you don't like it - them is the rules.

It's funny. This music is madly popular across most of Europe - all the way across Central Asia to Japan. And the Irish produce next to none of it. We do produce a lot of indie rock - like the Soviet Union producing things like pickled turnip and buggy whips in massive quantities long after the public has lost a taste for the stuff.

I had a dream recently - that Irish economy was collapsing - and all the musicians got together and saved the country by making it the Euro/Jap beat capital of the world. We can do cheese. A nation that can produce Big Tom and Geena Dale Haze and the Champions ... And Crystal Swing - is a nation that can become the predominant superpower of cheese.

Why aren't we making this music - to literally - beat the band?

Denis - or is it Boy Dennis these days - you picked up a lot from the dance forum. To give something back you could give us a master class in making this music.

The Romanians are laughing at us.

It was a discussion on the Dance forum about arrangements etc. Where to put breakdowns and the general progression of tracks, up till the "all hell breaks loose bit":D I actually listened to some of your stuff jt and noted the structure of tracks. I have never been anti dj/dance ever, I find new things a challenge, and it really is very difficult to keep things going with basic elements and then adding interesting stuff along the way. I dare anyone to step out of their comfort zone and try it, its always good to learn new tricks.

That's Boards Karma for you right there...

… back when I was trying to set up my project studio a couple of years back, I couldn't figure out how to get my Massey DTM plug-in to trigger drum sounds. Denis tried explaining it to me on a thread, but I just couldn’t get it working… so Denis very kindly talked me through the whole thing on the phone.

Top man Denis - that’s great news on your chart success!
