Turning your round around?

Was playing a round today and for the front 9 I was absolutely atrocious, had almost given up but when I got onto the back back nine I scored on every hole (stableford). I cant explain how I turned it around, wether it be a combination of a change in the course, finally getting to grips with the game, mental attitude. I try break my rounds down into six x three holes instead of two nine holes. My question is though, if you were having a bad round would you be able to turn it around? If so how?

Funny, this week was the 1st time I had heard of the round been broken into 3 sections, I think it is a great idea.

It came up while I playing with a young pro out in Potmarnock on Wed. The day before in the open at Roganstown I had 9 points on the front and 22 on the back (3 over gross on the back off 13). I did not intentionaly change anything in my swing, but my head just seemed to be in a better place once we turned.

I love every aspect of golf but get so frustrated with my game, when on the course my concentration is just so bad. Have been playing for 15 years and have always hovered between 15 and 12 and just cant seem to get lower, if i could just stay focused I am sure I could be a single figure player. Once I had a net 60 in Roganstown, 2 under gross with 4 holes to play and bogeyed all 4 coming in. How can some one shoot that low and never get below 12 ?????

Gonna try this 3 section approach and see what happens.

    J

The 3 section approach has benefits alright.
If you're playing crap by hole 5 you've still got to wait till 10 to wipe the slate clean.

I usually find that I turn around a crap round when I just stop caring and stop trying
There's a lesson there if only I could learn it :D

i use to do things like this, but its to easy if your playing bad to drop your head and just say ill wait till the next 3 or the next 9.
the only way that works for me now is to take every shot as if its your last.
the better you get the better you will understand your own swing and the easier it will be for you to fix it there and then on the course.
never drop your head and never give up , if you do you will never turn your round around.
