I've seen a number of octavia with the exact same thing, the 99-05 model reg is 08 even seen one 09.

Its strange but im sure it happens, think the read alfa 156 that makes an apperance on boards/carzone every now and then.
Some garage can't get rid of it unreg and registers it after a few years

The MKI Octavia was still being sold alongside the MKII as the Octavia Tour. Is the 09 one a greyish estate by any chance?

Is the Freelander in the OP not just a MKI Freelander, or was there a mid life facelift?

Looks like an importer Freelander1 to me, but I do try not to pay any attention to them

What's more strange to me is that the ad states:

NEW NCT DONE THIS WEEK 07/12

Why would a car registered in an 'odd' year have a new NCT for 2 years, starting and ending in 'even' years?

That model was produced up until 2001 and with with the way cars sold from around 2000/2001 onwards, I can't see why a 5 door diesel Freelander would ever have sat around for 4 years before being registered.

The only thing I can think of is that it could have been damaged before registration and someone eventually bought, repaired, registered and put it into use/sold it.

But that still doesn't explain the mismatch (as far as I know) in terms of first NCT due date etc.

Buyer beware, even if it's a registered dealer selling it.

There's loads of cars like this. Ive seen 06 A6 C5 saloons and an 04 BMW E38. Dunno what the reason is behind it.

Nope normal mk1 version looked like the base models too. Can't remember the colours but id safely say grey!;)

Would it be that much cheaper to purchase in comparison to the mk2/3?

it could have been owned by a company that wasnt using it on the roads the way tara mines use theirs for years and they are still un registered

They were coming in under €20,000 for the Estate early last year, which at the time was the best value for that size. Alloys, Armrest, huge boot, but no A/C. Was a few k cheaper than the MKII.

The Freelander is looking more and more suspect, wonder what Motorcheck would make of that?
