    Hey all,

    I have a HP envy 15 1060ea, with a hd 4830.

I am having very big troubles attempting to install the latest ati drivers. I tried downloading and installing the latest CCC version from the ati website, it gave me an error mid-way the installation (HERE I THINK I WAS TRYING TO INSTALL ONE ON TOP OF THE OTHER). I uninstalled my current driver (I think) from the device manager. I installed the latest CCC, restarted the PC and BAM - windows can't start. Ran that recovery thing, and it was fine and I went back to the status of the PC of that morning (with normal drivers). I am still stuck with these old drivers...

This is what I currently have installed (probably what the machine had installed prior to purchasing):

Considering I am a moderately experienced user with computers, could you give me a newbe step by step guide, with links, to installing the latest ati drivers for this HD 4830.

    Thanks all.

Sounds like you're trying to run them directly from the site?
I would sooner download the file locally and run it from your PC. Also you shouldnj't need to uninstall the existing drivers either.

Be worth checking out what changes the new driver make. If it's of no benefit to you, you might not need to upgrade them.

PS - You can have my name for a million euro :D

    cool name bro

No - I downloaded the latest drivers specific to my chipset. All in all it's a 100mb +/- pack.

Some people can install it directly on top of their previous driver, that's impossible for me. I get an error mid-way installation. I tried uninstalling my driver (maybe i didn't uninstall it fully) made my screen go to 16-bit temporarly, then i installed them ( finished installation ) rebooted and had to do a recovery. Maybe if someone who has this chipset could help me.

Previously I had a crappy x3100 intel chipset, and it was so easy to install drivers, few clicks, reboot, done. Why is ATI so complicated, yet so gooood at playing all the new games =]

I actually had ATI cards for a while, and they did cause me some hassle!

I went with Nvidia for my newset machine...tis great!

i heard nvidia are more user friendly etc,

but in the end of the day this ati 4830 beats all mainstream nvidea notebook/laptop cards like the gt 330m, 240m, etc.

    +

i got this baby laptop with an i7 @1.6ghz ; 4gb ddr3 ram; 7200RPM hard drive etcetc.. and all for 1.1k, 2 months ago
