Here's the story moving to Edinburgh for a year in september am in the market for a cheap 2nd hand car- around the 1,500 euro mark.

Dilema buy here and bring the car with me for a year or buy in sept when over in Edinburgh?

Was also looking online and can't find much 2nd hand cars available over there- anyone know the main UK car site I should be looking at? Also anyone know restrictions on bringing an Irish car to the UK for a YEAR?

    Thanks guys :)

You mentioned september, I don't believe the VRT thing applies to students if you are still ordinarily resident here

Most irish insurance co's will only insure a car up to 3 months abroad (IIRC).. another thing to consider

Snap. No transfer of residence for students. Buy a yoke over there with 'tax and long ticket' or at least 'long ticket' (i.e a year's MOT).
