    Folks,

Looking at buying one of the grand meganes on the scrappage deal, http://renault.ie/services/scrappage.html. Would be used for travelling to work (430 miles a week on a N and R road) and at the weekend for the missus and the three kids and for travelling to various places with them. What I really want to know is the Grand Megane good for travelling to work without breaking down every 5 minutes and would it last a few years as well?

I would have a lot more faith in new Renaults than the last gen, they know they dropped the ball and have been investing heavily in quality and reliability. All Renaults post 2008 (Laguna/Megane) have far better reliability ratings that their predecessors. 3 years warranty with the option of extending to 5 is attractive too. I would have no reservations.

Renaults from 2008 on are fine, there will always be exceptions to the rule but the most of them are fine, I like the Grand Megane too, nice comfort.

As a note I'm testing the Renault ZE next week, all electric car I do hope Renault has gotten better at electrics :D

Thanks lads for the replies, I have got some other positive feedback from car heads in work. Going to look at one tommorrow but leadtime is 8-10 weeks, not to worry as I still think it is a great deal.
