Please help-i need advise on 2 laptops am thinking of buying.
    1. Dell. Inspiron 1750 for 429.00. Celeron Dual Core T3300 CPU, 2GB RAM, 160 hard disc, DVD +/- RW, wireless, 17.3", webcam

    2. Toshiba L450-16Q for 400.00 Celeron M900 CPU. 2GB RAM, 320GB hard disc, DVD +/-RW, wireless, 15.6", webcam.

I have had a Toshiba before and it also had a Celeron CPU and it was slow. The dell has the dual core which i understand is faster and better. I know i can always get more hard disc space, but would the difference in these 2 CPU's be noticeable?
It would be mainly used as a second laptop, email, browse the web etc. No gaming or heavy downloads. Maybe watching DVD's but not downloading video/musis from web. Do i need a big processor???

    Thanks

if it absolutely has to be one of the above id go with the dell.. toshiba are a great machine and very robust but that CPU just wouldnt cut it tbh ..

What budget do you have have. Neither processor is great tbh, that being said though, i wouldn't touch the toshiba with a single core Celeron, maybe 5 years ago, but not these days! If you could stretch to a machine with a Core i3 processor, it'd be far superior to the above.

Hi-budget is a bit tight-no more than 450.00 really as I have a very good laptop already so this would just be a second one.

I thought that the Dell processor would be good though as its dual core. Isnt that supposed to be quite good?

if its pentium yes, not so good in celeron.. having said that the dell is the better one of the two you mention

    Just some remarks.

    Pros for Toshiba:
    1., Memory DDR3@1.066MHz vs DDR2@800MHz
    2., Wireless N: b/g/n vs b/g
    3., Bigger hard drive 320GB vs 160GB
4., Easier memory upgrade, 1 slot empty vs Dell used booth slots up (2x1GB)

    Pros for Dell:
    1., 17.3" LCD with WLED
2., Higher resolution than Toshiba (1600x900 vs 1366x768)
3., Higher webcam resolution 1.3Mpix vs 300kpix (VGA)
    4., Newer processor technology: T3300 launched Q1'10 vs M 900 launched Q1'09
