GNIB question- Wife immigrating, Irish husband (me)

    Hi all

I know legal advice is not given here, this isn't anything to do with courts or hearings etc just a question about a legal process.

this is an immigration/visa related question so hope its in the right forum.
Looking for some clarification from some legal minded people who know about immigration/visa's if possible.

If a Non EU spouse of an Irish citizen is arriving here for the first time on a D-spouse visa, must that person present themselves at Non-EU passport control with their Irish spouse?

    or

can the Irish spouse (Me in this case) simply go to the airport and meet the non-EU spouse there? ie; the non-EU spouse passes through non-eu passport control alone.

I am trying to figure out if I need to fly and meet my soon to be immigrating wife halfway and arrive in Dublin with her, or if I can save money and just meet her in Dublin airport.

i know legally the GNIB officer needs to see both our passports, her visa, and our marriage license, with Apostille stamped Translation into english, I just can't see the point in me having to fly out and return with her when I am already here, but of course there is no way of me actually getting to non-eu passport control without flying into dublin. Maybe I answered my own question, but surely it's absurd if a person in Dublin must leave Dublin and fly back in order to talk to a GNIB officer in Dublin airport.

    Thanks guys

As I see it, any person who holds a valid Irish visa may enter Ireland alone.
However, just to be sure, I would ring the local garda station and ask to talk to the immigration officer.

Also, once your spouse arrives in Ireland, you would have to go to your local Garda station for registration. A GNIB Card will be issued.

I have a question, i am German Citizen and my Wife is from the Philippines, we lived some time in Germany and then i got a job offer here and we applied for a Visa for her to enter the country.

The Embassy issued this visa and we came here on the 6th of September 2010, like the Embassy told us we went to immigration in navan and the immigration officer told us he can not register my wife as laws have changed, we have to send an EU1 application with all supporting docs to Dublin (burgh quay , EU Section) and wait until we recieve a letter from them (4-6 weeks) with that letter we come back to him and my wife recieves Stamp4EU until her application is processed.

Wierd that the embassy did not know that, is there anyone else who had the same experience ?
