    Hello all

I hope someone can advise me on this.

I recently got my B licence so now I'm thinking of getting a motorbike licence. I am 32.

    1. Am I right in thinking an "A" licence would allow me to drive nearly any bike (from moped to harley) so this is the licence I should go for?

    2. What does the test involve - is it a 40 minute test like the car test?

    3. Would you recommend something like http://www.msa-ireland.com for a beginner like me?

    Thanks!

You need to get a learner permit for a bike, do the theory test and then the practical test. There is a restriction on size of your first bike.

    See this thread - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055964610

I did the bike test a long time ago and it wasn't anything as long as the car test. They were mainly concerned with controlling the bike at very slow speeds, making sure you looked all around (which only an idiot on a bike wouldn't) and road positioning. I found it very helpful to have ridden a bike before getting a car, if nothing else, you know the importance of checking the blind spots.
