Depends on the bookies, the horse and if they like the look of you among other things! Just go in to a couple of different places if you think whatever the bet it is is worth the risk, spread the stake out.

Most likely they'd be ringing head office who would then give them a maximum stake to take, which would probably be in or around 300 quid I'd say, maybe as big as 500 if it's in a busier shop, or I could be completely wrong and they'll take 50 grand off of you but I doubt it!

might be best off keep it lower then maybe 200s. thanks.

Is there any reason it needs to be in the shop? If you do it online the limit is your own. If not just give them a call in the morning and check. Though I'm certain I've seen that amount being put down in the bookies before.

Is it a certain horse in particular you're gonna back or is it just a general question? I think they can take any amount but need to contact head office when they go to pay out over a certain amount, could be wrong though.

In the bookies I worked in, any bet that paid over €1000 (single bets I mean, not accumulators) we had ring the trading department to confirm that we could take it. Honestly depends on the shop, but they may be wary of somebody who has never come in before coming in and laying €300 on a largeish price horse. If you don't want to go online, best advice would be to spread it over a few shops.

yeah il have to slap a bit online alrite...

what in your opinion would shorten a price, ten lads putting on lets say 100quid or one lad betting 1000quid?

Depends on the trading department/head office to be honest. If they see a few lads coming into the one shop and putting bets on the same longish price horse, they may think there's insider knowledge and cut the price down. Same way if a punter who has never come in before comes in and puts down a grand on a horse. I can only speak for the bookies I worked in though. We had other bookies coming in laying off bets, so it might be more lenient in other bookies.

i think my best bet is get as much on online and then hit a couple of big bookies ie bigger busier shops rather than small independant ones

I'd say that would be your best way of going alright. Try to avoid the ones that are next door to each other though, I know if I saw somebody new coming in and putting money on a longish odds horse, I would pop into the bookies next door and put a bit of money on it myself. Best of luck!

When you go online and put up a bet slip with powers u press max bet and it will tell u what amount of monet theyll take before the price changes!! it depends on the kinda race as well like and also if its a biggambling stable

Rule of thumb is anything that stands to make 4 figures will be considered carefully.

To be honest I think the best thing to do would be to tell us all the horse ur backing and then if it wins at 12/1 not only will u be delighted but we'll all be happy :D
