I sent an application online to a hotel thinking nothing would come of it, and yesterday I got a call and I have an interview tomorrow. the position is a Weekend Bar Floor Attendant more or less a lounge girl. I worked in a pub as a lounge girl for a year and a half and thats all the experience I have. I'm 18 and this is going to be my first interview. My last job I was just given it because I knew someone so right now I'm soo nervous about tomorrow. I don't know what to wear. I tried on black trousers, black and white floral blouse and a black cardigan, it looks professional but is it okay that its mainly all black?

I'm afraid also of what he will ask me, like should I research the hotel or whatever. Like I know its not a big job but I really do need the money because I'm back in UNI in September :( Has anyone ever went for interview for a well known hotel?? like what questions were you asked ??

ahhh god im so so nervous :P

    Your dress sounds fine..

Go in with a positive attitude.. and why not, you have enough experience in the role from your previous job.

I would at a mimimum find out what facilities the hotel has (bars, restaurants, nightclubs etc.), so you can ask relevant questions about where you would be working, dress code, clientele type (holidayers, locals, golfers etc.)

I wouldn't worry to much about the finer details of the hotel as your are not applying for a management position, but the more you know the better.

    Best of luck :)

yeah i would say do some research on the hotel, say what star it is, how many rooms and if it won any awards recently. They should have that information on the website. Outfit sounds grand a plain white shirt might be better if you have it? A question on how you worked as a team might come up just sound positive and enthusiastic and best of luck let us know whether you get it. :)

  • Black is perfect for interviews, that outfit sounds good. You have loads of experience in this field already so don't worry about that. That's why you got the interview. Just be prepared to tell them about what you did in the last job and your strengths. They might ask for weaknesses, so obviously pick a weakness which is really a strength or something really minor, not 'I often sleep in and turn up late' :D

Research the hotel, make sure you know all the basics like what it offers, how many rooms, average room price, what type of guest it attracts. Make sure to have a couple of questions ready about something you wouldn't find on the website, such as dress code, hours/shifts - it looks good to ask.
