Mods - I have no idea if this is the right place to post my question so feel free to move it if it belongs elsewhere!!

Im just wondering about advertised prices. For some time ryanair have prices to Alghero for E19.99. Only problem is that whenever I try to book, the prices I get are 4 times more!

So is this common for ryanair or am I missing something? It seems like false advertising to me! I want to book my flights but dont want to miss out on the cheaper flights!

    Thanks

look at the small print. noramally the 19.99 is before taxes and charges and with ryanair the flight dates are between x and y and you must fly at some ungodly hour. and seats are limited of course

Maybe all the 19.99 tickets have already been sold?

They advertise EXX from A to B. They will have a certain amount of seats for exactly the advertised price. These seats will be on certain flights on certain days.

Well I wish I could find them or they should take the advert down!! Ive gone through the full 2 month offer and none are at the offer price!

well they seem to only fly their twice a week so the relaly cheap fares will be even more limited. If you look through prices for the next few weeks you will see prices as low as 29.99 so not far off.

Their offers also usually specify a limited period you can book in as well as a limited period you can fly in.

It must be a case of that the flights at that price have been sold. I doubt that they would advertise a wrong price as there are legal issues as well as many people ready to pounce on any Ryanair pricing mistake.

Depending on the frequency or popularity of a route they may have few or lots of flights at the promo price.

A promo offer for DUB to LON is likely to have lots of available seats, but maybe DUB to PRAGUE may have few, and only on mid week flights.

Their promos usually only last about 3 days, but then they have another one!

I also think they have peak price periods, e.g. over 3 - 4 months before and flight is cheap, 1 - 2 months before and price may be dear, and less then month before, it may be cheap again.

I have noticed this with a few flights, but I guess it depends on how many seats are available on the plane.

    I've just booked a 7.00 e return flight from there - Alghero

No taxes, and entropay so no card charges

    you need

    1. to be very patient

    2. to check as soon as the sales start - there are few flights at the lowest price

    3. I find skyscanner helpful , if only to see a period cheaper than usual

I've found skyscanner.net to be useful on occasions for catching those cheap flights which you think don't exist. For expample, it allows you to search for the cheapest flights during a given month or even for the entire year. The only problem is that lately, the price doubles or triples when I click on the link to the ryanair site. But, sometimes it works very well.

The 19.99 is likely before taxes.
