first of all i'm not sure if this is in the right place!

heading to thailand in a couple of weeks not sure how long for yet but i'm hoping to buy a phone out there, is this possible? is the coverage decent (will be travelling among the islands for 6-8 weeks), my main purpose is texting home really. heading to ko samui first so that's where i'd like to buy it if possible.

    thanks in advance!

You thought of buying a cheap one here and just getting a sim over there?

Phones are not cheap in Thailand. You might be able to buy a sim although I read somewhere recently that they've tightened up on that. Ordinary coverage is good. Data coverage is very patchy, even in Bangkok.

i had thought of that but kinda want a guarantee that it will def work, and i'd prob have to get an unlocked one which can be expensive?
