reading through old threds about this they seem to say the windows have to be covered with sheet metal, the reason i ask is we got an old oo ta ta safari for next to nothing and could use for hacking and could do everything ourselves but we thought we could blacken the windows with spray paint to keep the costs down, allowable?.

I don't think that would be a great job.

It can vary I think but a friend of mine got away with tinting the windows and then sticking industrial carpet to the inside of the window

I dunno, spraying a Tata Safari would improve it's looks no end! :D Are you sure you want to go to the effort, they are an awful vehicle

Is this an import that has to go through VRT proceedure or Irish that just needs DOE? If VRT, then you probably don't have much choice and will have to plate the windows, destroy the seat and seatbelt mounts and deck the floor. With DOE you may get away with blacking out or tinting the windows and removing the seats. Either can depend who does the inspection, seems to vary from place to place.

I have to echo this, I drove one very briefly and it scared me how poorly it handled.

Getting parts can be a nightmare as well. Steering idler arms are particularly prone to failing

We could paint it with a paint brush all over and it would probably improve it,parts are a problem alright, suppose we could take out the seats, tint it up and run it through the doe and if it wasnt to scarey we could chance it with the revenue.

If the vehicle is already in Ireland, and VRT has already been piad on it as a private vehicle, then I believe that there is no requiremen that the windows be blacked out.

That is, I think that you can leave the glass windows as they are.

Our our Toyota Landcruiser, have the windows opaque is a right pain.

As said above, Windows can stay as they are if its been vrtd as a passenger.
