    Folks,
My engine gave up yesterday, timing belt me thinks. 29.2k since last replacement , bit peeved.:(

Thinking a replacement would work out cheaper than repairs vs value of car. Anyone know how much and where I might lay my hands on a replacement unit, 1.6 TS.

    Cheers

In time.:) Were water pump & tensioners replaced at the same time?

You tried local scrapyards? I would expect that most would have a ready supply of 156 parts, there are a lot of older models which will probably be getting scrapped rather than sold on due to the depreciation of these cars in general.

That'd be my first port of call anyway.

Good Luck, hope you find the engine, getting rid of my Alfa was a very difficult decision, sorry I did, should have worked harder to keep her ;-)

Time is just as important as mileage with the twin spark. 3 years is the mark.

Use the opportunity to whack in a v6 on the sly ;)

Sorry to hear about your 156. Donedeal or scrapyards for a new engine and just keep in mind you'll still have to do the timing belt (and harmonic balancer) on the donor engine too. But it's a lot easier to do on a standalone engine than under the hood.

    Eg sample donor:
