Previous to last weekend the longest match I ever played went to the 24th hole. I thought the 24th was really far to go but this weekend I played in a match that went to the 30th hole. I thought it would never end!

Anyone ever played a match that went further than that?

Yikes! Must be fairly nervy stuff at that stage... was it world-cup-final-esque "caution, don't make a mistake" golf or could you still play a normal game? I know the few times I've gone to extra holes the over-riding thoughts going through my head is not to **** it up!
Furthest I've ever gone was 21 holes (this year) and won with a birdie but it was a 20 footer from a relatively safe iron to the green for me.

Yeah I won. We both had chances to close it out earlier but the putts just weren't dropping. It was getting a bit nervy because we were starting to lose the light. I wasn't being cautious at all, just kept playing my normal game and hoped I'd either make birdie or they'd make a mistake. They ended up missing a short putt for a half on the 30th hole which must have been a sickener.

Were the gimmies getting closer and closer? :)
I lost a match on the 21st before, after leaving a winning 4 foot putt short on 18...</choke>

4 years ago in a doubles matchplay in Roganstown, decided on the 36th hole, we had to come back a few days later to finish. We were never ahead once in the game and won it on the last.
