I am selling my car at the moment and am wondering what the situation is with leaving it out by the road on front of my house is?

I vaguely remember something about this practice being made illegal a few years back and you could get hit with a littering fine or something like that. Is this actually the case?

I think as long as the car is on your own property you're fine.

If it's taxed then it's fine. If not you must have it on private property (the road outside your house isn't private property btw).

Well, it's taxed until the end of the month & it'll be either be left at the entrance of the house or on the strip of grass between the front fence and road.

I'd be careful that it's not blocking any road signs or could possibly create an obstruction for someone making an emergency manoeuvre. Other than that - best of luck!

PS. I'd highly recommend donedeal.ie. I advertised an E220 on it last week and sold it 4 minutes later :)

If its a public road , its an offence to advertise it.

According to SIMI you'll be participating in the black market -

"This is a black market openly trading on our roads and SIMI are renewing their call to Government and Local Authorities to enforce the law and prevent these illegal traders from damaging further the fragile market."

You can't park there, it's against the law.

I would be careful recommending one site when you are afilliated with many others!

Thanks for that. I'm happy to recommend any service that delivers value for money - whether we're affiliated with them or not.

Hopefully I may not have to leave it out now. I put it up on a few sites today and have had two inquiries about it already. I meeting a guy tomorrow about it, wish me luck

Good man and fair play for backing yourself up but you know where I'm coming from.

I put it up on CBG, Donedeal, Gumtree and Buy&Sell late this evening. I didn't ask but I got two calls about it which means its either CBG or Donedeal because my phone number is not on the other two. It should be on Buy&Sell but the ad doesn't seem to be up yet.
