Ridge ventilation requirement

    Assume warm roof construction.

Roof has some form of over rafter insulation.

Therefore a counter batten and batten are required above a breathable felt.

In this case is ridge ventilation or ventilating slates positioned close to the ridge required?

Both options look crap on a roof imho.

    i cant see why....

ventilation is required (mainly in cold roofs) to exhaust water vapour / condensation from the structural roof timbers. In a warm roof the condensation point is outside this structural layer. Assuming your using a sarking board layer, with a breathable felt on top, then the battens and counter battens will create a natural vented space to off-vent this condensate.
