New Music Mini Controversy..kinda..nobody will care though

RATM were number 1 last x-mas as some sort of crappy protest about the current state of music. Just saw this on YouTube:

Both of these songs were number 1 within a couple of months of each other. Whenever that crap Katy Perry one would come on I always thought it sounded familiar but not being a huge fan of Tik Tok I couldn't place it.

Wouldn't it be cool if different countries picked different songs to be number 1. i.e. England could be Sex Pistols, Ireland could be Declan Nerney! Stop the world and let me off! Go Declan.

Move to Music if you want. Figured its more of an After Hours topic since its main stream crap that wouldn't really qualify for music

The link contains a Katy Perry song and a Keesha song spliced together. They have the exact same backing track with a different thud and voice being the only differences. I just think its pretty lazy

Plagarism is a though'un to proove most times, your copyright is only as good as as many people would be able to know you did it first.

Such as Queen / Vanilla Ice, Enya / Fugees, where it's clear cut rip offs. But that's only because we knew them before the others came out.

Pop music is for brain dead drones who like anything catchy. People dont care if they all sound alike or the "artist" (as they like to be called) cant sing. Its really sad when you look at it.
Makes me wonder, if I rip off a popular song with some ****ty effects on top of it and get some bird to sing using autotune, I reckon I could make it.
