Are you leasing as a person or a company? I don't think you'll get a private lease through any of the leasing companies any more.

I have been told by my company to go lease a car for myself. So hopefully some company will lease me one it is mainly for business use.

Chris is right - 99% of companies will not lease to a private individual any more. We dont, Merrion dont, I think Leaseplan done away with their personal plan. Not 100% on the rest, but i'd be fairly certain.

I'd try calling into your local dealer for whatever car your interested in the most and speak to their business manager. They may be able to wrangle a contract hire deal out of whatever finance company they deal with.

The easiest thing you can do is buy a car on Hire Purchase.

I have to say i am quite surprised about the lack of leasing companies out there.

So my company needs to lease me a car and there is only one company they can go to. Seems like an opportunity for some entrepreneur to me!!!....

It's because the banks don't want to lend to a private punter with a residual value in the deal at the moment - they've been seriously burned recently. Most of the major players are pulling out of the market at the moment.

The leasing company couldn't supply a car to a private customer even if they wanted to.

No, if your company are going to lease it in their name for you, then there are plenty to choose from.

If you are going to lease it in your name then there are very few. Get googling and talk to as many companies as you can. Maybe you'll get lucky and one will do a deal for you.

    Then you're fine.

Contact Merrion Fleet, Windsor, J&P Fleet Management or LeasePlan. There are others, but they're the main ones.
