hey i got a problem with the car and i haven't a clue whats wrong. i could be driving along slowly or sitting at traffic lights and the next thing the engine will start reving by it self, the only way to stop it is if you rev it past 5000rpms. its a saxo 1.1i 99. on 50000 on clock an this is the true millage as the car has been in family since brought.

How high will it rev on it's own. If it's around 1200 to 1500 it could be a faulty temperature sensor, the engine thinks it's cold so it runs rich.

i had a similar problem with my old car, would only happen in heavy traffic, and it turned out to be the temp sensor.. cheap fix.

it wasn't that the engine was cold, but more it thought it was cold.. so ran the revs to warm it up in my case

Crack in pipe between air flow meter (or MAF) and the throttle body housing. Out with the duct-tape! :)

240 to fix a 99 saxo? money might be better spent saving for a new car, use the saxo as a trade in, sold as seen..

    hiya
before you go spending big money try this ,

my girlfrends car did this ,so i changed the spark plugs and discovered she had no oil in the car so put oil in and cleaned the throttle body ,car has stopped over revving .garages will tell you anything to get a few bucks ,when its probably an easy fix .

its like these places that make dentures they tell people not to superglue when they break ,but they superglue them to fix them and charge a fortune
