Quick Boiler Question - how best to connect to a buffer tank?

    Folks -

Should a boiler connect to a 'coil' in a buffer tank dedicated to central heating - or should it connect to the main flow/return for the tank?

I was thinking a coil might not be able to 'transfer' the heat quick enough.

The setup I have right now (for central heating only, a separate tank is used for DHW)

bottom coil - boiler flow and return.
main connections - underfloor heating flow/return.

    Idea:
bottom coil - unused (secondary heat source if I ever get one..)
main connections - boiler flow and return, AND underfloor heating flow return.
Note: could use the second 'top' connection on the tank to provide separate flows for ufh and boiler, but the return would be shared from the bottom of the tank.

So essentially the same 'water' would flow through the underfloor and the boiler.

Good idea? Crazy Idea? Unfortunately the plumber is not much help - I think all the options we have today bamboozle most people - myself included!

Really appreciate any and all replies on this one!

I dont want to get two much into this but from my memory the underfloor heating and hot water coil are not suppose to be on the same circuit.

I think its due to the heatloss...

    A plumber might explain better.

    Hi Joey,

Thanks for the info. Thing is, after much googling, I've seen people connect UFH directly to the boiler (in the case where there is no buffer tank).

It seems the topic of plumbing system design is difficult to find solid info on online!!

If there is anyone who has done this, or as Joey says, a plumber who can advise, it would be much appreciated!
