if any1 can offer any advice here it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2001 VK Bora and last week the indicators stopped working and if they did work they would flash once of twice then stop..

i was told by mechanic that i needed to replace the hazard relay switch which i ordered from otto.ie.

i removed the old one and inserted the new one today and straight away my car alarm started making intermittent beeping noises and when i tried the start the car the battery warning light is on and car wont start at all..there is also a loudish buzzing noise now from the hazard switch unit.

i have a guy coming down in morning looking at it but just wondering has any1 had this happen before as i cant believe my car wont even start after this. i worried the alarm also has something to do this whole problem but at getting abit freaked at wat looked like a small problem is now has resulted in me not being able to start the car..

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

Have you replaced the new switch back with the old?

I havent heard of this problem but switching back in the old relay could help.

ya the old one is back in and the same buzzin noise is there after i try and start the car.

the lights, alarm(will turn on and off) and radio all work grand but no car wont start at all since ive put in new relay switch.

    Oh ****.

Sounds like summet else has been fupped up by it. Very odd though. Very odd. Google "VW GOLF HAZARD" "VW BORA HAZARD" and see if something pops up.

The golf and bora are the same in that generation.

Possibly relevant. The alarm could be tied into messing with parts of the car with the battery connected so the immobiliser or summet is changed.

Makes sense I think, the car things someone is fooling with the alarm system since the alarm is tied in with the hazard lights.

Im spouting ****e right now but it could be something similar lol

Hazard switch relay was a common problem around that era for Boras, Golfs and TTs. seems a very odd problem thou.

Try and disconnect the negative lead of the battery for say 5 mins and reconnect it again and see if the problems are still present. (make sure to have your radio anti- theft code nearby).

Diagnostic then is the way to go to see what is causing it.
