Reliable Nutrition Website/Coconut oil?

    Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a reliable, informative nutrition website that is not affiliated with any of the supplement/drug companies? Wonderful and all as the internet is I'm so sick of reading conflicting information on every other site I check. I know I should take anything I read with a pinch of salt, and I do try to, but it would be great to have a source I can trust. Unfortunately paying for a nutritionist visit isn't an option right now.

What prompted this post was trying to research extra virgin coconut oil online. It's either fantastic for boosting metabolism, shiny hair and energy levels or it's completely ineffective, depending on the website. I only started taking it three days ago and have spread it thickly on toast (tastes great by the way) and have noticed that even though it's a high-fat (and carbs from the toast) breakfast, I'm starving two hours later. If that's my metabolism speeding up, the rate at which it does so is pretty shocking!

Short version - can't afford a nutritionist - any good websites or does anyone have experience of taking coconut oil?

    Any pointers/experiences would be great.

I often take coconut oil before a workout. That way, I get the energy boost, but not a full stomach which ain't fun if you are benching to failure.

I can't say I've ever had a bad experience with it, but it's hard to quantify how effective it is, since I'm always doing other stuff too.

As for the website, it really does depend on your point of view. There are websites out to support just about any nutritional standpoint, everything from extreme vegan to kill it and eat it, cooking optional. Which reminds me www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SN7EUJYSP8

Havn't used coconut oil in my diet much but a lil spread over the skin is great for catching the ol sun rays .
