Scenic Run Howth Irish Runner Article

Frank Greally is interested in a short article on a scenic run in Howth for inclusion in the Irish Runner. A route that probably takes in the cliff run on the Sutton side where you are close to the water, the right of way across the golf course, some of the area on the Howth side of the Baily etc. There have already been many references in Boards postings to the route options in Howth and a good few readers probably have their own favourite! Problem is how to please everyone and to keep the run down to an hour and a route that is not too hard to find for first timers.

Anyone interested in coordinating everything (organising a run, deciding a route, assigning roles)? Probably best if a regular user of Howth takes ownership?

Any suggestions on a route of around one hour of easy running?

Any volunteers to take photographs and write the article?

How about Saturday 24th July if the weather is good?

Summit pub may be a good starting place, easy to find and parking. Can run along coast from there or down road and over to quarry entrance and golf course.

Not much of a writer, cordinator, but happy enough to be in the back of the group for some of the running shots. Sutton / Howth (strand Rd, Carrickbrack rd) is my normal running Sunday LSR loop.

I'd be interested in doing something, I do this route regularly with a buddy. This loop (http://connect.garmin.com/activity/31088005) is just over an hour long at an easy pace and is amazing. I can write the article and coordinate but would need someone else to do the pics....

If Frank greally wants a 500 word article, make sure its slightly short just like his race, see how he likes that!!

That's cheating... you're skipping the hilly bits! :D

I'll drag you around on Sat figs, I assure you there's plenty of hills!

Sounds good ChristeB, what time Saturday and where do you want to start from? Car park behind summit pub and car park on seafront are two options.

Would be nice if there was less road by going inland through the quarry (or Deerpark) and golf course but your route would be easy to find for people not familiar with Howth and it has all of the fantastic sea views.

Easy pace so everyone can manage.

    Have we a photographer?

I'll drop you a PM with my contact details now. We can basically start anywhere on the course, so how about Howth DART station? 3pm? We don't have a photog, I'll email Darren (race pix) to see if he's interested

Would love to come along. 3pm would work for me... I can do the photography thing, but you might have to give me a head start or else all the photos will be of you guys far in the distance!
