Right, I have used numerous Dell laptops over the years and am considering a change...to an Apple Mac...Im a novice as far as it comes to Apple computers, I have an Iphone but that doesnt mean much as regards their computers.

I just want to know other people's opinion regarding Apple laptops. Im thinking of getting the Mac book.

Opinions of whatever sort, pros and cons also welcome.

i switched over at christmas, i got a macbook pro and ill never look back! so much quicker than the windows equivalent. so easy to use an maintain, i haven't noticed any problems since switching plus you can run windows on them if you really need too.

I was the same. Had Dells and other Windows based computers. Had never used a Mac before. It was tricky to get used to at first, but now that i have got used to it i will never look back. The difference in speed is incredible. Even down to the minor things like shutting it down and starting it up. Everyone i know that has used my Macbook now wants one too. I am yet to come across the little problems that always used to arrive when using Windows. Also an anti-virus is not required so you save on the cost and the hassle of them.

    My advice is get one.

It's true. Fiddly when getting used to it, but so unbelievably better when you are. It's the little things.

Like the flip out parts of the power chord so u can wrap the cable ! )and the little plastic clip to hold it there. I only found that 2 days after I got mine. Since then two friends have also purchased.

everything said above is true, faster bla bla bla,
why dont you consider sticking ubuntu on your old dell machine first and give it a try, its 7 times faster then windows 7, will boot in under 20 seconds, shutdown is instant, no need for av either, there is a slight learning curve to it (its layout is very mac like), as there is to a mac, and best of all its free, as is all the software you need, which you download free from its software center, a good mac will cost over 1000 ubuntu will cost you zero,
worth a shot before you jump in, you never know you might like it, im only using it 2 years, i'd never go back to windows full time, you dont need to be a techie to use Ubuntu linux, people fear the word linux, maybe a few years ago, not now!

+1 for Ubuntu. It's great and similar interface/user friendly vibe to Mac. If you really decide that a change in hardware is what you need, I would go for Mac though. I love them both, but I could never imagine life without a Mac. (I have iMac, iBook, MacBook and a Compaq Netbook running Ubuntu - and i use them all)
