never turn out to be that simple, do they? :D

So today, inbetween frequent showers I decided to replace the holy end-pipe on my exhaust. Flanged on with three bolts, two of which you could get to easily, one you couldn't. All of course rusted solid, as usual.

Been soaking the whole shebang in WD40 for three days, but nothing budged.

Brute force and ignorance then and wring the neck off the two bolts I could get at. Wriggle, jiggle and force the end pipe to break the third. Grind off the stumps and spend 20 mins on each drilling out the stuck bolt (8.8's of course)

That still left the well rusted and fused remains of the screw thread in the threaded flange ..so out comes the thread cutter. Yeah, right ...not a hope.

Re- drill holes again with an 8 mm bit, forget about the threaded flange, use a counter nut instead.

So ...all in all I spent about three hours on what should have been a 20 min job at worst and burnt myself on a hot drill bit to top it all off.

I hate rusted on shoyte, so I do

That's always the way, 5 minute jobs turn in to 5 hours with loads of collateral damage!

tools theoretically necessary for the job:
1 x 13 mm spanner, alternatively wrench and 13 mm socket

    tools additionally applied:
long 13 mm socket and extender
    breaker bar
    hammer
    biggest screwdriver I could find
second biggest scredriver I could find
    bigger hammer and a chisel
    angle grinder
    drill
    2x 5.5 mm drill bit
    vice grips
    long nose pliers
    8 mm thread cutter
    1 x 8 mm drill bit

oh ...and about 100 or so swear words :D
