Go to page 8 on the following link http://www.upc.ie/pdf/DVRManual.pdf

Read instructions on "Search for code automatically."

If that doesn't work you might be out of luck.

    Hello everyone,
I've just been given a new UPC Mediabox but it came without a users' manual. Very basic set up instructions came with it but nothing of a detailed nature.
I've tried the Internet but could find nothing useful there.
When I searched the internet, I found a large number of sites, mainly Dutch ones, but nothing in English that was relevant to my search.
I rang 1908 and while the person I spoke to was very friendly, he was of no real help either. He directed me to the “Help” section of the UPC site where I found a couple of useful but basic videos but nothing that dealt with the more advanced functions.
    Can anyone please help me?

This is a 4 year old thread and you are not asking a question, what advanced features are you referring to? Its a remote control, not rocket science.

With all due respect, I did ask a question, right at the end. I said in the post that I was looking for a users' manual and I asked if anybody could help me.
I know the thread is four years old but it's considered good manners not to start a new thread when there's already one dealing with the topic in question.
I'm quite aware that all the functions can be accessed via the remote control but that still leaves me in the dark. It may not be rocket science to you, but I don't know how to, say, pause live TV or to watch one channel while recording another.
Incidentally, I did a Google search for a remote control manual and I had no luck with that either.

Raising a zombie thread is considered the exact opposite of good manners.

If you have a DVR, press the pause button to pause live TV, Schedule a recording from the guide and watch whatever other channel you wish.

What question do you have thats not explained on pages 7, 8 and 9 of the manual posted in this thread which is the second hit when you google 'UPC remote control guide'

Yes, I am aware of this manual but, ASAIK, UPC no longer trades under the name Chorus NTL and as the remote control illustrated is somewhat different to the one I got recently, I assumed the material would be in part outdated.
Furthermore, the service technician I spoke to when I contacted UPC, told me that I was getting a state-of-the-art model. Some new features were recently added and more would follow in due course.
As I've already said, I rang 1908 and looked for advice but what I was given was of no real help. The link you have kindly supplied wasn't mentioned in this conversation so, a\ll in all, I assumed the information therein wasn't up to date.
As regards resurrecting dormant threads, I never yet came across anyone, other than you, who considers it bad manners.
I know rules may vary from board to board but I have yet to come across one where doing so is against the rules.
On the contrary, I've found plenty which do. I can't post URLs here as I am a new user so and so I can't quote your post. But if you care to search for
“rules on starting new threads, you'll find a long list of sites that frown on the practice of starting new threads where there is already a related one on the board.
Anyway, all this is far from the question I posed in my opening post.
Thanks for your help and have a good day.

It is indeed against the rules here. That doesn't excuse all the backseat moderation though
