Ryanair Query

    I need to correct a part of my name in my Ryanair application form. It does'nt exactly match my passport name ie I applied for a flight and wrote " Michael T J Murphy" instead of " Michael Thomas Joseph Murphy" as in my passport. Is this something I should worry about knowing Ryanair? Many thanks Michael m. ps Ryanair's site does state that they both match. My difference is only in my middle names. I am still travelling as myself - am not changing the name per se. Ryanair's cost to make this change is 100euro. PPS HOPE I AM IN THE CORRECT FORUM.

    Welcome and its the correct forum.
    As you have your first and last names correct I would be inclined to think that you should be ok.
    If your not checking a bag, the first and last person that will check this is the boarding agent. If you are worried, get near the top of the queue and position yourself in the crowd, so a cursory glance will be taken as the queue moves forward.
    That said, it has been known that when people show up at an airport and need to book a flight there and then hence paying a lot of money, Ryanair always look after them. In such cases, if the flight is full, they need to find an excuse to kick people off.

    Thanks for quick reply Colm. Am inclined to risk it but you're so right in your observations. Head of the queue is a good idea and I've also paid for their special boarding facility. Paid me 6euro! To go to their desk at the airport, say tomorrow, to sort it might only raise a hare I'd rather leave lie!. They might mark my cards, to my detriment ,on the day.
    Their own site for "Changing Name" has a 100euro charge! I only want to correct an error not change a name. Many thanks again, Michael
    ps Will be checking in two cases into baggage and two hand luggage onto cabin - two weeks in Majorca.

    Travel/Holidays would probably be a better place but anyway :P If the name appears as you describe it, you should be fine. They deal with middle name/initials every day

    Hi Colm. You might answer another slight worry I 've just been handed! Seems I need a permission or somesuch to enter Spain - this started around 6months ago I think. Is this true? Will Ryanair set it up for me on my boarding pass? Where do I go to get this form? Many thanks again Michael r

    Your passport if fine, My passport has my middle name in it but I never use it for booking flights and it has never been a problem with any airline, even Ryanair.

    As for Spain, is this an Irish-Spanish thing cos I was there (flew from Berlin and back though) 3 weeks ago and there were no special requirements??

    You'll need to complete API (Advanced Passenger Information). It's required for those coming from outside the Shengen area (which is why you didn't need to do it from Berlin, murphaph).

    OP, you can complete it at http://www.ryanair.com/en/advance-passenger-information

    @OP,

    I recently booked flights for a few people and I used "Joseph" for a mate who we call "Joe" only to find out later that his passport is "Joe" :(

    didn't get questioned either on the way over to the uk or on the way home so you should be fine. The large "change name" charge is most likely to catch people who want to transfer the ticket to someone else.

    Easier to ask for forgivness rather than permission. ;)
