    Hey lads,

I've got the below. Right now the CPU is bottlenecking me. I dont have the cash for a new laptop which is what I would normally be looking at as this thing is really dated. That said, the memory, GPU and display are fine, so why not.

What I need to know is can I upgrade CPU and if so to what that wont cost an arm and a leg. A low end dual will do what I need, but if I could get a good deal on something midrange I might take it.
    Dell Vostro 1000
    Mobile AMD Sempron 3600+ 2.00GHZ
    2GB DDR2 at 250Mhz
    Dell 0WY383 MB [Socket M2/S1G1]
    ATI Xpress 1150
    500GB Seagate(Aftermarket)

Only temp reading I'm getting from Speccy is the HDD, which is at a constant 51*.

    All input appreciated,
    Lethal

What are you doing that you need the extra CPU speed?

DJing. As it is the CPU can handle mean usage but when it peaks things get tight.

Looking on Ebay it looks like used I can get one for around €40-50 shipped. Thats used though. Are used CPUs a bad idea?

I dont really know where's best to look for mobile processors. Its the TL- 60 I'm after.

Never had a problem with used ones. Theres a risk as with anything. Test it when you get it.

I'd imagine DJ'ing would hit the CPU hard alright.

Yeah, playback is via an external high powered soundcard(Cost me 110 squids) but the CPU has to feed it and manage all MIDI instructions. The faster the CPU the lower the latency in the controls generally.

I'm gonna do a little bidding, see if I cant get a deal on a used one.
