If a guy is asking what ring size you are, does that mean he's thinking about popping the question? My guy was asking me it last week, should I be getting excited?

I think it more depends on where the relationship is.

My brother got his girlfriend a "ordinary" ring for their fourth anniversary - and then proposed a week later with another ring.

he may not necessarily be intending to propose. he might just be buying a ring he thinks you will like, as a birthday/anniversary gift.

if you start believing that he is going to propose then you might get badly disapointed if he doesnt propose, and if he does, the surprise element of it will be lost. you are better off trying to convince youself that he is not. that way you wont be disappointed.

Who the heck knows? :) He could be buying you a claddagh ring. Has he been hinting? Are you at the stage where marriage is on the cards?

I would say forget he asked you, or youll tie yourself in knots wondering, and get mad with him if he doesnt propose, and he wont even know why!

If he's very specific about the finger he's asking the size of, would probably be your biggest clue. :)

While I'm normally a proponent of over-excitement and general giddiness (I used to write to Santy a few months early as a kid:)), on this occassion I'd tell you to hold fire. He may be buying you any kind of ring so if you build yourself up to the prospect that it is an engagement ring it could take all the good out a perfectly nice gift and cause you disappointment if it's not.
