just wondering how to go about getting maps on line for free or just tips on the various aspects, weirs, white water areas on the river, thinking of bringing a friend along for a paddle, just want the heads up first from those that know it.
for instance is it possible to paddle from maynooth to island bridge in a fiber glass boat etc, what lavel of skills needed where?

    thanks in advance

The liffey is generally a grade 2 river so isn't overly taxing (depending on your skill level), however some of the weirs can prove tricky/dangerous if you don't know them. I've never paddled from Maynooth, but the section from Lucan to Palmerstown has a few weirs you need to be careful about, notably wrens nest. If you've a fiber-glass boat be careful going over the weirs, especially if there's low water flowing through the weirs.

The great outdoors had a A4 page that you tape to the deck of your kayak for the race. Ask them if your in Dublin.

I might have a copy somewhere. Will check, remind me in a couple of days. :-)

The upper and lower Liffey races are worth it to pre-race and spot the route gently. See the upcoming events thread at the top of page one of forum.

With the dam letting water go on the day, one or two sections become grade 3- but nothing worse.
