Going building a slatted shed on an out farm, no ESB connection at present but the nearest pole is only about 50 yards away. Question is should I sign up as a business customer or will it be classed similar to a house? It'll only be used during the winter so ideally trying to keep costs as low as possible, anyone here had similar experience? would I be saving or costing money signing up as a business customer? any advice appreciated

It will be classed the same as a house I'm afraid, unless you need power for welding, milking or other business venture. I'm not sure if the charge will be the same as the house - mine cost almost €2k last December, but there used to be a lower rate for farms, not sure if there still is or not though. I had a shed built at the same time and found it cheaper to lay an underground cable for 100m than to pay for an extra installation and then pay the standing charge on it.
