hey guys. im a substitute teacher and am not getting paid for the summer...therefore as much as it kills me i am on social welfare. there s a bit of confusion about the pay im getting in because they need to 'block holiday'days or something! im totally confused. Do sub teachers get paid any holiday pay at all?

Casual subbing rate is higher as there's an allowance in it paid to you to make up for not getting paid during the holidays.
So yes, in fact you do get paid for holidays.
I'm literally just out of the SW office with a form that I need to post of to the DoE for that exact reason.

Your holidays were included in the hourly rate, so you're not eligible for social welfare immediately. However, you should be entitled to it for part of the summer. A friend of mine was only able to claim in August.

It does depend on how many hours you were doing.
