Yes, I know, Next sales are not what they used to be, but anytime I've gone in I've always managed to get some good stuff for the kids. I haven't bothered looking at the mens stuff mainly as the nearest Next to me does not stock any!

Anyway.... everything on sale is half price or less.

In my experience the Next sale is rubbish! There are always crowds of women grabbing tons of tat without even looking at it.

I think it would require a lot of patience to find anything good.

Would agree with that. even though i'm not a woman but seeing them just buy anything for the sake of having a few quid off is ridiculous.

Last sale i was at, all the clothes (Mens!) where just squashed onto the rails in a tiny area of the store - in blanch, while the non-sale stock looked normal and very few looking around

I've heard Next in Mahon Point is opening at 5am.

Pardon my French, but shag that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,799 ✭✭✭Doodah7

They buy in a load of tat from the Middle or Far East, rebrand it as Next and flog it. Very little of the stuff on the rails has been on sale here at the pre-reduced price...

This what you will most likely face should you have the impossible task of dealing with Next Douglas Court Shopping Centre

    ____________________________________________

    Hi,

My partner had the unfortunate "pleasure" of trying to deal with staff/management in your Douglas(Cork) store the other day. It was in relation to items received as gifts for our 6 week old daughter.
My partner had visited your Mahon Point store the previous day and while they could not do enough to help her (ordered in larger sizes etc) one outfit could not be ordered but was in stock in Douglas (this was confirmed via two calls to them from Mahon Pt), the assistant thus informed my partner that she could go to Douglas and collect the aforementioned item from your store at her convenience and that it would be held for her.
The next day my partner had time so she called in to the Douglas shop and yes they had held the item but were now insisting that she had to pay them for it. The manageress was called and she too insisted that the item had to be paid for. The manageress refused point blank to contact Mahon Point and confirm the details of the exchange (Mahon Point store had held onto the item wishing to be exchanged), insisting that it was quite impossible as they were separate stores with no connection and that she not going to call them. While I understand due to your corporate structure this might well be true it is not good to portray this to the public as this manageress has done as it leaves a very bad impression of Next in the minds of said public. Clearly this manageress (whose name tag was not clearly on display) was having a bad day but the manner in which she dealt with my partner has resulted in us being reticent to purchase from Next again, those whom we have told this story to have not been surprised that it was the Douglas store and have nothing but good things to say about Mahon Point so clearly there is a sickness in the Douglas shop from the top down.

I await your reply to this serious matter,

    Best Regards,
    MC

That doesnt make sense, are you saying the store in Mahon Point kept the item that was to be exchanged?
Nobody would send somebody to another store to change something and not give the item back. All exchanges are done through the till, its not possible to give an item back to 1 store and get another in a different store.
If mahon point held onto the item the customer would have been given a refund card to the value which could then have been used to purchase the item in the store that had the correct size.

Why are they crap? because they wouldnt give somebody something for free?

Its the store in Mahon Point you have the problem with - they falsely told you you could go into another Next store to collect an item.

I can't see how Next would allow such a thing as their stock system would break down within days if this was permitted.

Was in the Sligo store at 9.30 this morning.. not that busy!

But it was a terrible selection.. I always find a T-Shirt or something. But absolutely nothing in there worth buying!

Don't get me started on their "selection" of jeans!

This makes absolutely no sense, there is no way the dress you were exchanging was left in the Mahon pt store with out either the operator exchanging it on the spot or a gift receipt was issued.

Did you want Douglas to transfer the dress to Mahon?

You went to the store, got you dress and what just expected them to hand it over with out payment?

God help the team in Leister trying to sort that one out.

Anyway the Next badge doesn't have the employee's name on it...thank god.

Yeah well you should work for them, your attitude would fit right in.

Douglas had been rung and informed that a customer was coming to collect said item and to hold it for them, how is that not clear!

Anyway I'll be happy to see them rebuked by head office for their bad attitude and hopefully they will be re-educated re customer service.

The staff member in Mahon Point said they would get the item transferred so we no longer have to deal with the joke Douglas shop

Just a hint of racism there eh?

I asked in Next in Blackrock could I see the original price on the books. Was told I could have the item if I wanted it FOC 'baby'. The system works..... I bought a lot of clothes that day, lucky I'm white or people would have said it was social welfare that paid for it :P.....

Whilst you may have a valid point regarding the Douglas store customer service, let me tell you, with an attitude like that, I'd have gone out of my way to make sure you got nothing too. Retail staff can smell a smart-arse-know-it-all a mile off.

    "Serious matter" lol

Next sales are complete rubbish in any case.

If I didn't read it, I wouldn't have replied. Birds of a feather and all that. I'm not here for an argument though.

Ever think that they might work? If it was white people you wouldn't have questioned it but since they were black ye had to have a go at them, racist much?

Anyway getting back on topic, don't like much of their clothes myself but my brother did get too nice hoodies there yesterday. They were €19 each so he was happy out.
