I'm attending a wedding this summer in the first week of August, when the South of France is going to be hot hot hot! There'll be a lot of family, so I'm a little nervous to show too much cleavage etc...:o
I was thinking of this dress

Well I think that's lovely to be honest. It's nice and summery yet classy for the South of France, I don't think that'll be beaten in terms of style!

Thanks BananaWhoops! I really like the dress on, the colours sort of "pop" more than in the picture. I've tried a couple of different colour shoes with it, but it's sooo hard to get a good match. But white accessories at a wedding, yay or nay?

Hi there, well I live in the South of France and its already 35 degrees and more some days. Its worth bearing in mind also that weddings down here tend to be very much up to yourself in terms of dressiness. I was at one two weeks ago and there was everything from linen trousers and boob tubes to full length Monsoon style dresses.

I know you are aware that it will be hot, but it is the extent of the heat that makes it difficult to dress for. Not to be too graphic but you will have sweat running down your back and face etc. so well worth bearing this in mind. Do bring blotting powder or something to freshen your makeup with coz it will end up running.

Also regarding heels, I would only wear them during the day here if you are already a seasoned heels wearer because your feet will swell and it will be tough to walk.

That said, the dress you've picked is lovely, dressy but not overly so. I would say no to white accessories personally but thats a question of taste really. Perhaps some delicate gold accessories to break up all the white? I hope you have a lovely time. Where are you going exactly? (total nosiness on my part!) :P

Well the shoes are more cream than white, which I think is a bit nicer! I think a cream satin bag would be lovely with that, and whatever jewellery you like, gold/silver or maybe some jewels that match a colour in the dress.

If you're veering away from the cream then I guess you need to try and match your shoes/bag to a colour in the dress, which I know can be tough. I'm voting for the cream accessories on this one :)

Totally agree with Mackleton about the gold accessories if you're a gold wearer!

I think the dress is perfect!

The shoes look a little high though.

I was at a french wedding last near near Nice and people seemed to dress more for comfort then high fashion. I was really surprised. There was no-body in sky high heels apart from me, and I changed into sandals directly after the mass! A couple even wore jeans (and it was a fairly posh wedding)!

I thing kitten heels to match one of the colours in your dress would be perfect and your feet won't be killing you by the end of the night.

Thanks everyone, great advice! I'm a bit of a heels fiend, but I'll definitely try to pick up something flatter for the evening, just in case! Mackleton, to satisfy your curiosity, the wedding is just outside Toulouse. You mentioned you live in the south, could you recommend somewhere I could pick up a glam little clutch bag, the like of which you'd get in Monsoon Accessorize at home? I was planning on being back in Dublin beforehand, but now it doesn't look like that's going to happen, so I'm organising on the run!
    Thanks again everyone!:D

Beautiful dress, beautiful shoes. I wouldn't consider them to be that high. I can't see the problem with wearing white shoes, I think they work really well.

Also, with regards to getting a size up, your feet will swell in the heat so it's probably better to have a bit of give in them.
