UPC BB & Belkin router

This might well be more suited to a different forum.

I'm having an issue with my Router or modem. I have the dark Scientific Atlanta UPC modem and a Belkin Wireless N router (F5D8233-4v3). At random times durign the day, sometimes multiple times in a short time, sometimes a couple of times spread out and sometimes not at all, the internet connection light on the router goes from blue (connection detected) to orange (no internet). Pretty much everytime if I reset the router (power off and on) I get my connection back , the odd time it goes and comes back on it's own.

So now I'm left trying to figure out if it's a problem with the UPC modem dropping connection or if the router either has a problem or theres a setting that's wrong in the router causing it to reset the connection.

Anyone have any ideas or even have the same setup?

    Cheers

Try replacing the ethernet cable between the router and the UPC modem. Double-check the cable from the UPC modem to the UPC panel is tight on both ends. Remove any splitters or similar that you may be using.

There should also be a light on the UPC modem that displays when internet connectivity is available. So check if this goes off when the modem does to help you narrow the cause down.

Belkin wouldn't be the best routers in the world, so don't rule out a fault with this after all the basics above are checked.

    .

Actually , forgot to put in the modem info. Lights stay normal on the UPC modem durign these drops, but I cant say for sure if they dotn momentarily drop because the first time I notice is when I lose connection and the light goes orange on the router.

Dont know how I ended up putting this here to begin with, should have been in BB alright :)

Was having the same problem with a Linksys router. UPC would only say that the levels are correct. It is a new router and tried it on the connection at a friends, non UPC, and it never dropped at all
