legal pitfalls of camera installation

I've plans to install an IP camera at our Rugby club from the corner of the clubhouse to the pitch so matches can be viewed live streaming on our website. Individuals may be discernible and the function of the installation is to (a) attract visits to the website [marketing] (b) security [obvious advantage of always on surveillance] (c) novelty and innovation factor (d) condition of the pitch [flooded - frozen]. But is there a law governing the conditions of such an installation?
    Any advise would be appreciated.

Proportionate and for a specific purpose (off the top of my head)
The Data Protection Act 1988 and the Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2002 is where you should be looking. sorry i don't have more...
