How to combine Freesat and Saorsat on the one receiver?

I'm just a tad curious about combining the feeds from two dishes into one feed and having my Bush Freesat HD box show both Freesat and Saorsat (in non Freesat mode).

The Freesat box does not have any diseqc control built in to it, so I would need some form of external box to combine the two feeds.

Anyone any thoughts on what is needed?

    1) you sure no Diseqc? Switch from Freesat to FTA and check menus

    2) Just use an F-connector change over switch. I used to switch 3 LNBs manually on a Pace Sky Digibox.

    3) Wait and see

    Hi Watty,

The Bush BFSAT01HD has no Diseqc control at all, much like a Sky Box. Thanks for the heads up on F-connector change over switch, ideally there will be one that is remote controlled :)

Step 1: Wait and see if Saorsat gets off the ground

Freesat does not allow Diseqc, you have to go FTA to use it.

Freesat does not allow Diseqc, you have to go FTA to use it.

And at that, only some Freesat STB's have diseqc in non freesat mode, most notable the Humax models.

There so many variables still to be clarified its difficult to be sure of any set up at this point in time.

Of course, if the satelllite were launched, we might have a chance.:)

No harm if people are looking to upgrade/ buy freesat receivers to look for things like diseqc for possible future proofing.

There might be harm if someone buys somethig that turns out to be not compatible.

But you'd surely be better having a box that handles diseqc rather than one that doesn't?

not if it's no use at all.

Buy nothing for Saorview till after Oct 2010 and nothing for Saorsat till after it goes on air (maybe June 2011).

Of course if you are buying a box for Freesat ANYWAY, getting an HD version that is a HDD PVR and has Diseqc is a good idea.

Though I have made a lot of educated guesses regarding Saorsat, it's still not real till the un-tall female mammal warbles.

Depends on what you want to use it for. As Watty says why not wait until we find out exactly what saorsat will use.

Thanks for all the replies. Obviously I am not going to buy anything any time soon just to receive a non existent service, but I was curious as to how one could combine the two services.

I am sure I am not the only one who has a similar setup with similar thoughts.

    Thanks,
    MJ

easy....Freesat box connected to switch 1 on diseqc, dvbs-2 receiver for saorsat on diseqc switch 2!

I used to use an old panasonic sky box on switch 1 all the time.

Which is what I was getting at, but obviously not being clear about!

But don't assume it will work at all on Saorsat.

    We will see ... later.
