    The egg actually faked it!

Well lets see a chicken had to come from an egg.

But the egg wasnt a chickens egg,

The chicken was a mutation that took and became the dominant strain.

So the egg came first but it was not a chickens egg.

So by that logic it'd be a chicken that came from a foreign egg and then the freak became the norm.

Dinosaurs laid eggs before chickens ever existed...

That's right. Chickens, like all birds, evolved from reptiles, and reptiles have always laid eggs.

(what do you say to an impressionist chicken painter?)

At the risk of being a pedant I would say this makes more sense if you substitute 'impressionist' for 'surrealist'

[pedantic]That's not entirely true - some reptiles are viviparous and they no doubt inherited that ability in the same manor as egg-laying abilities were inherited by fellow reptiles from their ancient oviparous relations...[/pedantic]

Eggs...either from sea creatures or just as ovum would have existed prior to reptiles...before that? Who knows. :)

I rememebr writing loads about this before, oh the wasted time. It all came down to definitions and 'either'. Chickens evolved from things with live young. I think the chicken really.
